This brilliant work by one of Russia’s foremost novelists teems with greed, passion, depravity, and complex moral issues.
Three brothers, involved in the brutal murder of their despicable father, find their lives irrevocably altered as they are driven by intense, uncontrollable emotions of rage and revenge.

I posted this as a book of the day while reading the early stages but this was a mistake. It’s a terrible read and please avoid. As it has been translated, it’s hard to know whether to blame the author or not for the language, but it reads like someone was sitting with a thesaurus while writing / translating. The language also suffers from repitition that admiitedly may be highlighted as I am listening on Audible, rather than actually reading the book
The story is wooly, flowing into places that are not necessary to the plot. The only reason I read this was that it is rated as a classic by many. How it ever got that rating, I do not know.
For me, it falls into the same category as Moby Dick. I think the people who tell you it must be read haven’t done so themselves.
My rating 25/100
